Against the backdrop of a successful loan spell with the Black Cats, Diallo seemed to have earned the favor of Ten Hag, who started him against Leeds United and Olympique Lyon in their first and second pre-season friendlies.
Against Arsenal, Ten Hag benched the Ivorien but brought him on in the second half to replace Antony after Manchester United went two goals up.
