Since then, Alphonso Davies has been sidelined by both Bayern Munich and his national team, Canada. In his absence, both his national team and his football club continue to win games and progress in all the tournaments they are involved in.

Despite his heart condition, Davies who is one of the best left-backs in the world has never stopped following the progress of his national team.

On Sunday, March 28, 2022, Canada played their second to the last World Cup qualification match which was against Jamaica. A win in the game gave Canada an automatic ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the second time in the history of the country.

Recall that the last time Canada qualified for the World Cup was in 1986 which means that Canada has not qualified for the World Cup for 36 years. Hence, every soccer lover from Canada including Alphonso Davies has been following the World Cup qualification series keenly.

During the game between Canada and Jamaica on Sunday, Alphonso Davies was nowhere close to the stadium but was closer to the game than any other Canadian who was longing to see Canada in the FIFA World Cup again.

The North American country enjoyed 8 wins, four draws, and one defeat in 13 games which were enough to send the country to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The country is leading the CONCACAF qualification table with 28 points, three points above second-placed the United States.

Even though Canada has qualified for the World Cup, the country will have to play its last qualification game which is against Panama on Thursday, March 31. The outcome of the game will not affect Canada’s qualification.
