Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies might be doing great in his football career but he has not been having it kindly on social media as his love affair with Canadian female footballer Jordyn Huitema has always been a subject of racial attacks.
One of the instances that got to the two lovers started on August 29, when 19-year-old Jordyn Huitema shared a picture showing her and her 20-year-old lover Alphonso Davies relaxing at a holiday resort, Ibiza, Spain.
Jordyn who currently plays for Paris Saint Germain female football team simply wrote “Baecation” as the caption of the picture. Unfortunately for her and her lover, most of her over 1 million followers decided to storm the comment section of the Instagram post to share racially motivated comments against the two lovers.
As of the last check, the Instagram post has generated over 30,000 mixed comments which did not go down well with Alphonso Davies and Jordyn Huitema. The two lovers said they were disgusted by the racial attacks.
Jordyn Huitema recently referred to the ugly experience and was quoted as saying: βWe will never see good in the world if all we see is the color of each other’s skin. We are all part of one race, the human race.”
On his part, Alphonso Davies described the racial attack on him and his lover as “absolutely disgusting” and alleged that he and his lover have been receiving direct messages filled with racial abuse.
Though Alphonso Davies was born to Liberian parents in Buduburam, a refugee camp in Ghana, he chose to represent Canada national football team. His girlfriend, Jordyn Huitema also plays for Canada women’s football team.
Hence, when the Canadian football association heard about the racial abuse the two footballers have been subjected to, the FA had to issue a statement to express its support for the two lovers.
The statement read: βWe stand firm against racism and discrimination of any kind both in the game and within all of our communities around the world.
βWe are both disappointed and appalled with the hateful comments recently made to members of our national teams through social media.
βShare love not hate and work together for a better world. #NoToRacism.β
In the same vine, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer told German media outfit, Bild, that “racist hostility will not be tolerated by us in any way” because the club “stands for cosmopolitanism”.
“We founded the ‘Red Against Racism’ initiative some time ago, which we practice very actively throughout the club in all sports and areas”, he added.
“Exclusion, discrimination, hatred, and violence in every form have no place in our world.
“No matter where you come from – football offers us all a home. Football has the power to connect people. As FC Bayern we always want to contribute to this.”
Alphonso Davies and Jordyn Huitema have been dating since September 2017. He had to be fined β¬20,000 in September 2019 for arriving late to a Bayern Munich practice after visiting Huitema in Paris, France.
He is reportedly interested in ensuring that Huitema leaves PSG for the Bayern Munich female team so that they can be closer to each other.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, December 17, Alphonso Davies became the first North America footballer to be included in FIFA FIFPro World11. The excited 20-year-old left-back took to both Instagram and Twitter to celebrate the amazing feat.

So far this season, he has played just 10 times in all competitions for Bayern Munich due to an injury from which he just recovered from. Last season, the Canadian left-back played 29 games in all competitions, scoring three goals and provided 4 assists for the UEFA Champions League and Bundesliga reigning champions.
