Al Nassr have unveiled Alex Telles as their new player as the former Manchester United defender reunites with Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a video shared on the club’s social media handle, the 30-year-old beamed with smiles as he donned the colors of his new club.
Financial details of the deal between Manchester United and Al Nassr is undisclosed but sources close to the two clubs say Manchester United have pocketed just £6million in the deal.
Telles is the second Manchester United player to join Al Nassr and the first top player to leave the Old Trafford this summer.
There are reports Manchester United are set to part ways with more top players in the squad this summer in addition to Telles.
While the aforementioned players enjoyed a bit of first team action under Erik Ten Hag, Alex Telles was totally removed from the squad and sent on a loan spell to Sevilla by Ten Hag.
Ironically, Telles came up against his parent club Manchester United in the quarterfinal of the Europa League last season, starting on the bench and helping the team to a 5-2 aggregate win over Man United.
Known for his playmaking and attacking style of play as a wingback, the Brazil international joined Manchester United from Porto in 2020 for £15.3million, signing a four-year contract. Before his switch to Manchester United, Telles’ career peaked at Porto. In his five seasons at the Portuguese side, he made over 30 Primeira appearances for the club each season, scoring goals every season. He won the Primeira Liga with the club, including Taca de Portugal.
At Manchester United, the former Galatasaray defender made only 9 appearances in his first season and 27 appearances in his second season before Erik Ten Hag took over as Manchester United manager.
Telles rating dropped drastically under Ten Hag after the Dutch brought in the likes of Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez into United’s defense options.
Telles was loaned to Sevilla where he made 27 La Liga, 5 Europa League, and 6 Champions League appearances for the club. After his season-long spell with the club, Telles had a year remaining in his Manchester United contract but it was evident Erik Ten Hag is ready to let him leave the club on a considerable offer.
After the summer break, the 30-year-old did not report back to Manchester United preseason training as he eyed a move away from the club with Al Nassr on his trail.
Telles has now completed his switch to Al Nassr – a move which has seen him reunite with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo who was also a casualty of Erik Ten Hag’s squad reshuffle at Manchester United.
The Brazil defender will be hoping to breath life back to his career as he opens a new chapter with the Saudi Pro League giants.
