    Left-back Sergio Reguilon has arrived at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground as he completes his £32million move from Real Madrid as he pens a five-year deal with the North London Club

    Reguilon reportedly traveled on Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s private jet, alongside Real team-mate Gareth Bale, on Friday the 18th of September to complete his medical ahead of the move.

    Who is Sergio Regulion

    Sergio Regulion is a 23-year-old Spanish attacking full-back from the Real Madrid development academy. In almost a decade-long playing career, he has featured for two other Spanish sides while still contracted to Real Madrid.

    Regulion’s first of senior appearance came during his spell at UD Logrones as an 18-year-old after he played with the Spanish third division outfit during the 2015/16 and 2016/17 LaLiga campaign. 

    In two seasons at Logrones, he made only four appearances and managed to register one assist, before returning to the Bernabeu.

    Regulion finally made his first-team debut for Real Madrid in October 2018 as he featured in the Los Blancos 1-0 Champions League defeat to CSKA Moscow. 

    He would put on the famous Madrid jersey in Madrid’s 4-0 Copa Del Rey victory over UD Melilla almost a month later.

    Regulion then went on to make 14 appearances for Real Madrid in the next season, where he registered two assists while playing in over 1,100 minutes in the LaLiga alone.

    Being lower in the pecking order of left-backs at the club, Regulion moved to Sevilla on a long-term loan deal, where he spent three seasons.

    His loan to Sevilla this season, though, has been the most successful, having made 25 appearances in all competitions.

    After making just six appearances for Sevilla in his first two seasons, Regulion finally locked down a permanent starting role for the Seville-based club last season.

    He made over thirty appearances while helping them to an impressive fourth-placed LaLiga finish record sixth UEFA Europa league title.

    Regulion’s impressive performances for Sevilla had a number of suitors scrambling for his signature, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund all interested in the Spaniard at some point.

    The defender has now completed a £32million move to the Premier League as he pens a five-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

    Style of Play

    Tottenham are getting a very attacking full-back who makes excellent progressive runs and has exceptional crossing abilities.

    Fullbacks, nowadays, are expected to be able to make progressive runs as they support the front-men and Reguilon not only make defensive runs, he makes progressive runs with the ball.

    While averaging almost four dribbles per 90 minutes, Regulion also averaged 3.55 progressive runs per 90 for Sevilla last season.

    Regulion is also an excellent crosser of the ball. Last season, 38.9% of the Spaniard’s crosses reached a teammate as he proves he consistently good with his crosses. Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was amongst the few who also average around the 30% mark.

    In light of Regulion’s move to Tottenham, his contract details remain in the dark, however, In July 2019, Regulion extended his loan contract with Sevilla which hiked his salary to around £158,333-per-week which earned him a whopping £2.3 Million per year.
