The deal between Liverpool and the Word Cup winner is set to be finalized this week as the Reds are hopeful of landing him.

Liverpool and Brighton have been in contact regarding the Argentine, who has a release clause of between £45m and £55m in his contract.

Alexis Mac Allister signed a new contract with Brighton last October which saw his deal which was due to expire this summer extended.

The said deal now runs until the summer of 2025, with an option for an extra 12 months.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, it is expected personal terms will be quickly agreed between Liverpool and Mac Allister.

The transfer guru wrote on his Instagram account that: “Alexis Mac Allister will be first new Liverpool signing, permanent deal set to be done — here we go! ✨.”

“Mac Allister agreed personal terms on five year deal, it will be valid until June 2028 as expected since April.”

“Medical tests will take place in 24/48h as deal will be completed this week also between clubs with Brighton.”

“Liverpool will trigger release clause for way less than reported £60/65m fee — it’s a bargain for the Reds.”

Alexis Mac Allister, 25, is likely to begin what looks set to be a busy summer at Anfield, as Jurgen Klopp is looking to rearrange his midfield.

The Midfield is a major concern for Klopp as Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are all leaving the club after their contract expires.

Another midfielder that would leave Anfield is Arthur Melo who will return to Juventus at the end of his loan deal.
