Lacazette played under manager Mikel Arteta when he was at Arsenal before deciding to go back to his country France to play for Lyon.

The Frenchman stated that he is not surprised with Arsenal’s success this season in a press conference ahead of Lyon and PSG clash.

Alexandre Lacazette, 32, left on a free transfer in the summer after spending 5 years at the North London club.

He returned to his formative club Lyon after playing 206 games for the Gunners and scoring 71 goals in total.

He has attained success since he returned to the Groupama stadium and he is in fine form currently.

In Ligue 1, only Kylian Mbappe (19) and Jonathan David (19) has scored more goals than him who is on 17 goals so far this season.

His departure from the Emirates outfit has had little or no implication on Arsenal’s recent success this season.

Arsenal are the league leaders in the Premier League and will play in the Champions League next season after failing to do that last season.

When the former Arsenal star was asked about his ex-club’s success this season, he confirmed that he was not surprised at all.

In the press conference, Alexandre Lacazette said: “Arsenal? I’m not surprised. I worked with the coach (Mikel Arteta). I know how he works, and I’m not surprised by the club’s success and I’m happy for my teammates there.”

Alexandre Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette is a French professional star who plays as a striker and is the captain of Lyon. He was born on 28 May 1991.

Laca as he is fondly called plays mainly as a striker, but has also been deployed as a second striker and wide forward.

Aged 19 in 2010, Lacazette began his senior career with his hometown club Lyon.

He was initially a wide forward, but was converted into a striker. He went on to finish as Ligue 1 top goalscorer and won Ligue 1 Player of the Year in the 2014–15 season.

Lacazette signed for Arsenal in 2017 for a record fee of £47.5 million (€53 Million) where he won the FA Cup in 2020 and reached the 2019 UEFA Europa final in 2020.

Lacazette returned to his boyhood club on a free transfer in 2022 and then became the club’s second highest all-time goalscorer in their history.

Lacazette made his international debut for France national team in 2013 after he had represented them in all youth levels.

The striker was a major contributor in France’s 2010 UEFA European under-19 Championship where he scored the winning goal in the final against Spain.

He only recorded three goals in 16 appearances playing for the French National Team.

Arsenal Under Mikel Arteta

Data suggests Arsenal have been playing as title contenders since November, 2022.

You literally don’t even need to look into the data or results because we have seen the performances and how they validate the point.

For the most part of the last 12-14 months, Arsenal are producing on average at least 2 xG per game while conceding less than 1 xGA per game.

These are insane numbers and are also the numbers that separate champions from the entire pack.

And Arsenal have been putting these numbers up for quite some time under manager Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal are also first on the EPL table with the youngest starting 11 in the league and this has been the plan since Arteta took the helm of affairs.
