Two Manchester United defenders, Eric Bailly and Alex Telles, are missing from Manchester United preseason with most first team members back to the squad.

As Erik Ten Hag continues his squad rebuild, a number of first team players are already lined up to be axed.

A lot of prodigious changes have taken place in Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United squad. First, was the unceremonious departure of Cristiano Ronaldo after his bombshell interview.

The second big alteration is David De Gea’s unceremonious exit after contract renewal deadlock.

On Saturday, Ten Hag continued in his ruthless grip on the squad stripping Harry Maguire of the captaincy badge.

More big changes to the squad are still anticipated in the coming days with Ten Hah ready to sell Harry Maguire, Fred, Van De Beek, and other flops.

It has also been confirmed Eric Bailly and Alex Telles did not report to the club’s preseason training on Saturday.

It is understood, the two players are off Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United squad plan for the upcoming 2023/24 season and will be sold this summer.

With their absence from the preseason training session, it is understood they will not be included in Manchester United preseason squad for the US tour which kicks off on Wednesday against Ligue 1 side Lyon in Edinburgh.

Alex Telles, 30, joined Manchester United from Porto in 2020 for £15m. He signed a four-year contract with the club making his debut Manchester United Champions League win over PSG in France in 2021.

Telles made 30 Premier League appearances for Manchester United but struggled for a first team place with the squad. He was sent on a season-long loan to Sevilla in 2022. With his loan tenure expiring this summer, Telles, who plays as a left back is set to leave Manchester United as he is off Ten Hag’s list of Man United’s available defense options.

Alex Telles has a year remaining in his Manchester United contract but will be sold out this summer.

Eric Bailly is another out-of-favor Manchester United defender who will be axed from the club this summer. The Ivorien center-back is certainly out of Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United plan with the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael manning the club’s center-back role.

Bailly joined Manchester United in 2016 from Villarreal for £30m, signing a four year contract. After his previous contract expired, Bailly signed a renewed two-year contract till 2022. He penned another two-year contract in 2022 till 2024.

After a brilliant start to his Old Trafford career, Bailly suffered a sharp career decline following an injury blow in 2018 but was able to resurrect his career after recovering from the sidelines.

With Ten Hag coming in as new manager, Bailly was loaned to Marseille in 2022. He has made 70 Premier League appearances for Manchester United. With 12 months remaining in his contract, Futballnews learnt Bailly will be sold this summer.

Lists of Manchester United players back for preseason and possible preseason squad list

Leading the list of the first set of Manchester United players who are back for preseason was Lisandro Martinez who just recovered from metartasal fracture last season. New signing Mason Mount made his Manchester United training debut, and some other youngsters from the academy.

While the club is yet to release their squad for preseason tour, major names expected to make the lists are Harry Maguire, who has been stripped of Manchester United captaincy, including last season’s Man United top scorer, Marcus Rashford.

Bruno Fernandes, Dalot, Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Christian Eriksen, Anthony Martial, Antony, Alejandro Sancho, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and other first team players are expected to make the list.
