Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr are reportedly planning a shock move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.
N’Golo Kante has emerged as a top and priority target for the France box-to-box midfielder despite struggling to regain his first-team position at Chelsea.
The Saudi Arabian giant are believed to be eyeing Kante as part of their plan to bring big-name players to the club.
Recall they are also eyeing a move for the highly-rated former Manchester United and Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
N’Golo Kante is not at his best at Stamford Bridge this season. Since picking up a hamstring injury in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham this season, he has been ruled out for the rest of the games leading to the World Cup break.
Apart from his injury struggles at Stamford Bridge, N’Golo Kante is at loggerheads with Chelsea on a contract extension. His current contract expires at the end of the summer, and with the faceoff with the club’s management, it is likely he may not extend the contract.
Chelsea are reportedly offering N’Golo Kante a two-year contract extension, while the 2018 World Cup winner is expecting a longer deal.
Apparently, the Blues are worried about his struggle with fitness and are not ready to offer more than two years.
Now, N’Golo Kante will likely become a free agent at the end of next summer. With the contract extension imbroglio, he will now be free to enter into contract talks with potential suitors from January 1 as the transfer window reopens.
Meanwhile, several clubs have already indicated an interest in securing the services of the highly-rated midfielder, with Saudi high-flyers Al Nassr emerging as the frontrunners to sign him.
According to Foot Mercato, Al-Nassr are keen on adding Kante to their squad when his deal expires at the end of the season.
Since Graham Potter emerged as the new Chelsea manager, N’Golo Kante is yet to make an appearance for the Blues. As things stand, it is unlikely he is in the plans of the former Brighton manager.
Kante’s Stamford Bridge situation will serve the yearnings of Al Nassr, who are keen on landing the Premier League and World Cup winner in the club, in addition to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Meanwhile, Graham Potter has confirmed Kante is unavailable for games as the Premier League resumes from the World Cup break, saying he might only be available from ending of March – a few months before the expiration of his contract and the end of the 2022/23 Premier League.
N’Golo Kante underwent surgery on his hamstring in October and is set to miss four months of action.
Meanwhile, Al-Nassr have to battle with Xavi’s Barcelona, who are reportedly interested in signing the Frenchman also.
However, Barcelona are reportedly hoping to sign Kante as a free agent. Hence, save the personal decision of Kante, Al-Nassr stands a chance as they hope to sign Kante in the next transfer window.
