Gareth Bale could stay at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the end of the 2020-2021 season, according to his agent, Jonathan Barnett. The 31-year-old Wales international returned to Tottenham Hotspur this summer after 7 years at Real Madrid. The pacy winger left Tottenham to Madrid in 2013 for a then world transfer record fee of £85 million.

His return to Tottenham where Portuguese tactician, Jose Mourinho has been reigning since last season, has heightened the expectation of the fans of the club in terms of winning silverware.

Though Bale has suffered a long wait on the bench at Real Madrid especially during the second half of the 2019-2020 season, he is expected to thrive during the season-long loan stay at Tottenham.

Since he joined Real Madrid in 2013, the Wales international has won everything in Spain and in Europe including two La Liga and four UEFA Champions League titles.

Though Bale established himself at Tottenham Hotspur as a world-class player, he got to the peak of his career in Spain where he scored a whopping 105 goals and provided 68 assists in 251 appearances, a feat that has never been achieved by any British footballer abroad.

While at Tottenham between 2007 and 2013, the Wales international was not able to help the Premier League club to win any silverware. The best he helped the club to achieve was leading the club to Football League Cup final in 2008–2009 season.

Hence, Gareth Bale’s second coming is expected to be different now that he has Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son to play with. Most importantly, the club is now managed by Mourinho who is seen as a coach who always wins titles in every club he goes to.

“I’m sure that if things really worked out well, we’d have no problem”, Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett said.

“This is the club he wants to play at. I don’t see any problems if he wants another year.

“Hopefully the subject [of returning to Real] won’t come up. He will be so successful at Tottenham he’ll want to stay and it will be a simple deal to do the rest.

“What I hope is he’ll get his love back for the game and play the way he can, but it’s up to him.

“And he’s not on trial anywhere. He’s achieved more than any other, I think, British footballer abroad, so I think he’s fine.”
