Cameroon and Egypt will battle it out in the second semi-final match of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2021) later tonight, February 3, 2022. The winner of the match will take on Senegal in the final.

Recall that Senegal made it to the final of the tournament on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, after defeating Burkina Faso 3-1.

As for Cameroon, the Indomitable Lions are going into the semi-final match against the Pharaohs without losing any match so far in the tournament.

Another plus they have is the fact that they are the host of the tournament which means that the whole of Cameroon would be behind them when they face Egypt at 20:00 later tonight.

The intriguing encounter is scheduled to hold at the 60,000 seating capacity Paul Biya Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Vincent Aboubakar of Cameroon and Mohamed Salah are the players to watch in the game tonight.

As for Egypt, they were not expected to have gone this far in the tournament especially after they lost their AFCON 2021 opening game against Nigeria in the group stage.

However, after the disappointing start, the Pharaohs were able to pick themselves up and returned to winning ways. Aside from the defeat to Nigeria, they have not dropped a point until date.

Despite how good the two countries have been so far in the tournament, one of the African giants will crash out of the tournament tonight.

Based on the fact that they are the hosts and that they did not suffer any defeat in the group stage, most football pundits believe that Cameroon might beat Egypt to get into the final.

However, if one should judge based on the kind of teams the two opponents have confronted in the knock-out stages of the tournament, one would easily conclude that it is Egypt’s tournament to lose.

Recall that Cameroon beat lowly rated Comoros 2-1 and lowly rated Gambia 2-0 in the round of 16 and quarter-final stage of the tournament to book a date with Egypt.

As for Egypt, the record seven times winner of the tournament met highly-rated Ivory Coast and knocked them out on penalties and knocked out another Africa heavyweight Morocco in the quarter-final to book a place in the semi-final.
