With 20 minutes remaining, Steeve Yago and Djibril Ouattara scored either side of an Andre Onana own goal to give the Burkinabe a 3-0 lead.

After Stephane Bahoken cut the deficit to one goal, replacement Vincent Aboubakar scored on 85 and 87 minutes to force a shootout.

It was a goal similar to the one scored by Burkinabe Gustavo Sangare in the first encounter on January 9, before Aboubakar converted two penalties to give Cameroon the win.

In the closing minute of the first half, Andre Onana allowed a Kabore cross slide through his fingers and into the net for an own goal, doubling the Stallions’ lead.

The goal was first disallowed by the referee because he believed the ball had crossed the line wrongly, but the VAR official persuaded him to reconsider his decision.
