Real Sociedad winger, Adnan Januzaj has admitted that he has nothing to showcase in the UEFA Europa League tie with his former club, Manchester United next Thursday.

The Belgian player was with the Red Devils for six years-2011-2017 starting with the club feeder’s team before making his senior debut in 2013. The Brussels-born have been on the loan spells to various clubs in Europe before sealing the deal to Sociedad in 2017.

But Man United was drawn to the Spanish-based side in the round of 32 of the UEL, which will be played in Italy because of the deadly pandemic, but the former Borussia Dortmund player said that he knows his qualities hence does not have anything to prove in the match.

“I don’t have to prove to anyone, I know my qualities, I don’t have to prove to anyone how good I am, I just have to believe in myself, get my games and be happy.” He said in a dialogue with ESPN.

The 26-year-old player said he is very happy to make a reunion with the former club in the upcoming European tie, but once in on the pitch, he not going to be friendly with the Red Devils

“I’m really happy to go back there, the club I love. Once I’m on the pitch, there’s going to be no friends because obviously I’m playing for another club now and also I want to win the game. I want to go through with my team. I’m really happy to go back there to see the people but once I’m on the pitch there will be no friends.” He said

    Adnan Januzaj

Januzaj has a complicated story with the club at Old Trafford, he had more playing time with former boss David Moyes than his predecessor, Sir Alex Ferguson, has Januzaz started from the bench in the parting game of the Ferguson

His performance at the club gave him a national call from Belgium, thus, earned him a new five-year contract with the Manchester club

“I had Fergie and David Moyes, coaches that believed in me, but then some others came in and they wanted a bit more experience in the teamI was a young boy and when you’re a young boy you have to shut up and do what people tell you to do.” He said

“I didn’t have the right coach to push me. For example when Van Gaal came I was playing one game out of six so it was difficult and I was like ‘what am I doing here?’ The first season under Moyes I was getting game time to show myself. At Manchester United, the most disappointing thing was that I wasn’t getting games.” He stressed

Adnan Januzaj has scored two goals with the same number of assists in fourteen league appearances for Sociedad. The Imanol Alguacil led side is placed fifth in the Spanish La Liga table.
