Young Barcelona centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo is prepared to join AC Milan for the rest of the season as a loan deal for the defender nears completion.

The 20-year-old joined Ernesto Valverde’s side from Toulouse in the summer but has failed to break into Ernesto Valverde’s first-team plans. Todibo has played three games for the La Liga champions, with two appearances in La Liga and one in the Champions League, since arriving at Camp Nou.

Todibo, who was unveiled as a Barcelona player in February, played a key part in knocking out Milan’s rivals Inter in the Champions League, featuring for the full 90 minutes in a 2-1 victory at San Siro. The ex-Toulouse man was left out of Ernesto Valverde’s match-day squad to face Espanyol on Saturday evening.

Diario AS  reports that the ex-Toulouse defender looks set to leave Camp Nou in search of regular football, as the finer details of the deal are still to be ironed out between the two clubs. The outlet added that Barcelona will definitely retain the player’s services at the end of the loan spell.

The report also claims that Barcelona see this move as a good opportunity for Todibo to earn some much-needed first-team experience, and they believe that the Rossoneri will provide a good base for the youngster to learn. An announcement of the deal is expected to be made in the near future.

Recall that Gazzetta Dello Sport reported that negotiations between the two clubs have reached a conclusion, with a deal between the two parties agreed. The report also claims that AC Milan do have an option to sign the defender permanently for £17million at the end of the season.

The report noted that financial details have yet to be revealed but it’s claimed that Todibo will now negotiate personal terms ahead of a January move. The deal will likely include a buy-back clause for Barcelona, a clear indication that this will be a permanent switch, rather than a loan.

The Italian outlet added that Milan have been tracking the young Frenchman for some time and expect the player to make his decision in a week. Also, Manchester United had also been linked with a move for the centre-back.
