Recall that on Saturday, April 30, 2022, Real Madrid hosted Espanyol at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The Spanish La Liga game ended 4-0 in favor of Real Madrid which cemented the club’s league victory for the 2021-2022 season.

The triumph did not only extend Real Madrid’s dominance of the Spanish La Liga, but it also made Carlo Ancelotti the first football manager in the history of football to win a league title in the top five leagues in Europe.

Carlo Ancelotti started winning league titles in Europe when the 62-year-old Italian coach was the manager of AC Milan between 2001 and 2009. He won the Italian Serie A title with the club in the 2003-2004 season.

From there, he went to conquer the Premier League by leading Chelsea to win the Premier League title in the 2009-2010 season. A season after, he was forced to leave the Premier League club.

His next managerial job was in Paris, France. He coached Paris Saint Germain between 2011 and 2013. Before he left France, he helped PSG to win the 2012-2013 French Ligue 1 title.

Carlo Ancelotti’s first spell at Real Madrid between 2013 and 2015 did not yield a La Liga title. After spending two years in Spain, he flew to Germany to coach Bayern Munich. While at Bayern, he won the German Bundesliga title during the 2016-2017 season.

After coaching Napoli and Everton between 2018 and 2021, Real Madrid decided to appoint him again. In the 2021-2022 season, he led the Spanish giants to win the club’s 35th Spanish La Liga title.

Hence, the Spanish La Liga became the 5th league Carlo Ancelotti conquered in his managerial career. No football manager in the history of the game has ever achieved such a feat.

What is the second record Ancelotti created in 2022?

When Carlo Ancelotti left Everton for Real Madrid in 2021, most of his critics thought he would suffer at the club. To a large extent, the Italian legendary tactician suffered because the club has not been playing a very convincing football under him.

However, the players always find a way to give coach Ancelotti the desired result which saw them scale through Paris Saint Germain in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League this season.

Also, they were able to knock out the resilient Chelsea football club in the quarter-final stage in a very miraculous way. To the surprise of many, on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, coach Ancelotti inspired his team to overturn a 2-goal deficit to end Manchester City’s journey in the UEFA Champions League campaign.

The 6-5 aggregate win took Real Madrid to the final of the Champions League a record 14 times. It also made coach Carlo Ancelotti the first football manager to take a team to the Champions League final five different times.

Recall that Ancelotti took AC Milan to the Champions League final in the 2002-2003 season (won), 2006-2007 season (won), and 2004-2005 season (lost). He took Real Madrid to the Champions League final in the 2013-2014 season (won) for the 4th time in the history of his managerial career.

Hence, the 2021-2022 season will be the 5th time coach Carlo Ancelotti has led a team to the final of the Champions League in his managerial career. He will lead Real Madrid to face Liverpool in the final of the competition in Paris on May 28, 2022. The kick-off time is 20:00.
