Everton hasn’t played in England’s top tier in a long time, but there’s a good chance that run will come to an end this season.

Will Everton Relegate to Championship?

The Toffees’ season is unraveling, with only one win in their previous four games and just one point separating them from the relegation zone with seven games remaining.

The club is currently in 17th place in the Premier League table, but it has a game in hand on both the team directly below it (Burnley) and the team above it (Manchester United) (Leeds). As a result, the Toffees still have a chance to get away from danger.

If Everton, a staple in the Premier League for decades, is relegated, it will be one of the most shocking falls in recent memory, and a huge blow to a club and fan base that had hoped to compete for a place in the top half of the league this season.

Everton has been in the Premier League for longer than Liverpool (1962-63), Manchester United (1975-76), Tottenham Hotspur (1978-79), and Chelsea (1978-79). (1989-90).

The club has only been relegated twice since its founding in 1887, in 1929-30 and 1950-51.

Will Everton Relegate to Championship?

Except for those four seasons spent outside of English football’s top tier, Everton has spent every other season of its history in the top flight.

Will Everton Relegate to Championship?

Everton is now in the relegation zone and is the betting favorite to be relegated. Everton might yet be relegated for the first time in the club’s Premier League history (since 1992-93), as well as for the first time in all league play since their return to the top level in 1954-55.

Everton has won just four games in the Premier League since winning four of its first six matches under former manager Rafa Benitez, collecting just 16 points in its past 26 league games dating back to the beginning of October (4W-18L-4D).

Norwich City and Watford are both highly likely to be relegated, according to the data analytics website FiveThirtyEight, with both clubs sitting at over 99 percent to be relegated, leaving a fierce struggle between three clubs to avoid the final relegation slot.

Everton is the next most likely team to be relegated, according to FiveThirtyEight. Its chances of suffering a decrease have risen from 31% just a few games ago to 55% presently. Burnley’s chances have decreased from 53 percent to 27 percent after two victories and a tie in their last four games.

Unfortunately for Everton, only one team below them in the table remains on the schedule: the match against Watford on May 11 will be a must-win for the Toffees. Apart from that match and another against Brentford on May 15, the rest of the schedule is quite demanding.

Everton’s chances of relegation

Everton would suffer a severe setback if they were relegated, with the absence of Premier League cash weighing heavily on a squad full of players who may be tempted to leave.

Richarlison, the Brazilian international who signed a $43 million deal with Everton in 2018 and is very certain to play in the Premier League, is the first and foremost among them. With 42 caps for England, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is expected to be in high demand. In the Championship, center-back Yerry Mina, a 27-year-old Colombian international, would be a luxury.

If Everton is relegated, manager Frank Lampard might be fired, given he was hired with the express purpose of keeping the club viable following the terrible end to Rafa Benitez’s reign.

Lampard began his managerial career in the second division Championship with Derby County, where he led them to the promotion final, where they were defeated by Aston Villa in May 2019.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri invested $135 million in the team in January, aiming to help the Toffees avoid relegation, although relegation could be disastrous for the club’s finances.
