Barcelona has been reported to be monitoring some players so as to pick a substantial one to supersede Jordi Alba who is getting older.

While Barcelona’s hunt for a new striker has dominated the headlines, the Blaugrana are also searching for a quality left-back as the summer window approaches.

Jordi Alba has been in excellent form lately, but he is growing older and will want his playing time to be properly controlled. At the same time, Barça must put in place a long-term plan for the Spanish international in the chance that he chooses to retire.

As a result, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is keeping a watchful eye on as many as six left-backs ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.

According to the sources, Javi Galan of Celta Vigo is one of Xavi Hernandez’s top goals. Since joining Celta Vigo in a €4 million move from SD Huesca last summer, the 27-year-old has been in pretty good form.

Galan is experiencing a strong season with his new team and is aware that Barcelona is interested in him. However, no negotiations have yet been held between the two sides. With his current deal expiring in 2026, pulling him away from the Galicians could be difficult.

Apart from signing Galan, Valencia defender Jose Gaya has been on Barcelona’s wishlist for quite some time. The deal of the Spanish international is meant to expire in 2023, but he is pondering extending his stay at the Mestalla.

Alejandro Grimaldo, a former La Masia student who now plays for SL Benfica, has been in Barça’s sights since the January window and might resurface as a major prospect this summer, considering that he, too, will be approaching the end year of his deal with the Portuguese giants.

AFC Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico is also a desire for the Blaugrana after inching closer to heading to Camp Nou during the transfer window, only to have the trade prevented by the Dutch champions.

Angelino, the Spanish defender from RB Leipzig, is another player on Barça’s want list to reinforce their left-back position. Since going to Germany, the former Manchester City full-back has blossomed, and his attacking qualities might make him an excellent match in Xavi’s system.

Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham Hotspur is the final and most fascinating name on Barcelona’s shortlist. The Spaniard, a student of Real Madrid’s school, has never been given a long run at the Bernabeu but established his quality during a loan period at Sevilla prior to joining Spurs.

Fabrizio Romano has verified Barcelona’s interest in Reguilon. A summer transfer for the ex-Real Madrid player may be quite enticing.
