Arsenal are reportedly trying to tie down Bukayo Saka to a long-term contract which could see him earn nothing less than four times his current salary.
The 20-year-old English footballer has been fantastic for Arsenal in the last two seasons but he has taken his game to a whole new level so far this season.
Though Bukayo Saka still have less than two seasons on his current contract with the Premier League club, the club does not want to take any chances. Hence, reports claimed that the club is making efforts to offer him an improved deal that might keep him at Arsenal for a long time.
Based on the contract Saka signed with Arsenal in 2020, the English star earns £30,000-a-week wages which makes him one of the lowest-paid football at the Premier League club.
The contract will expire on June 30, 2023, which means that the fast-rising football superstar might become a free agent in the next 15 months if Arsenal fail to extend the contract before it expires.
Saka’s current contract comes with an option that permits Arsenal to extend it by a season. But the Premier League club is looking at the possibility of offering the Englishman a lengthy deal.
A UK publication, The Sun, claimed that Arsenal intend to offer Bukayo Saka a long-term deal that could see him earn nothing less than £125,000. If Saka signs the new deal, his weekly wages will increase four times more than his current wages.
However, if Bukayo Saka refused to sign the new deal, Arsenal will trigger the one-year extension clause on his current contract.
All things being equal, Saka would not want to turn down an opportunity of being among the highest-paid at Arsenal. The proposed new deal will give him more resources to take better care of himself, his family, and his girlfriend, Tolami Benson.
