The manager of Chelsea Thomas Tuchel did not like the decision of the club’s fans to sing the praises of the outgoing owner of the club, Roman Abramovich when the Premier League decided to show solidarity with Ukraine.
Recall that Ukraine has been the center of attention since February 24 when Russia’s President Vladimir Putin ordered his military to invade the country.
The ongoing invasion of Ukraine has brought about a series of sanctions against Russia across the world. Even businesspeople from Russia are not left out of the backlash against Putin’s country.
Unfortunately for Chelsea’s fans who seem to love their club owner so much, Roman Abramovich‘s alleged close ties with Putin attracted so much pressure on the Russian billionaire.
Hence, he had to confirm his willingness to sell the club for three billion pounds to the sadness of the club’s fans.
The club’s fans never wanted to lose the club’s owner who has invested so much in the club since he bought it in 2003.
Abramovich’s investment in Chelsea has helped the club to win a staggering 19 major titles in less than 20 years including two Champions League, two Europa League, five Premier League, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
For the love he showed to Chelsea, the club’s fans that traveled to Turf Moor for the Premier League game between the club and Burnley which ended 4-0 in favor of Chelsea decided to disrupt the league’s plans to applaud the victims of the war in Ukraine.
As the players stepped to the pitch and began a one minute of applause for the victims of the war in Ukraine, Chelsea’s fans in the stadium began to chant “Roman Abramovich” to overshadow the applaud.

Thomas Tuchel disagrees with Chelsea fans who chanted Roman Abramovich’s name during a league game against Burnley
After the 4-0 bashing of Burnley, coach Thomas Tuchel of Chelsea told reporters that Chelsea’s fans chose the wrong moment to pay tribute to the club’s outgoing owner.
The coach stressed that the club’s fans ought to unite behind the club to show solidarity with the victims of war in Ukraine.
Coach Thomas Tuchel said: “It was not the moment to do this. If we show solidarity, we show solidarity, we should do it together.
“We take the knee together. If an important person from our club or another club unfortunately dies, we show a minute of respect, it is not the moment to give other messages, it’s a moment to show respect.
“We do this because this is what we are, we show respect as a club, and we need our fans to commit to this minute of applause.
“We do it for Ukraine, there is no second opinion about the situation there. They have our thoughts and our support; we should stand together as a club. It’s not the moment for other messages.”

Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Burnley has solidified the team on the third spot on the Premier League table with 53 points in 26 games, 10 points behind second-placed Liverpool with a game in hand.
The club’s next league game is against Norwich City on Thursday, March 10, 2022. The match will kick off at 20:30 at Carrow Road.
