Only two minutes into the second half, Maduka Okoye’s goalkeeping error gave the Carthage Eagles the advantage.

Tunisia upset Nigeria 1-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16.

The Super Eagles were one of the favorites to win the tournament, but they were knocked out early in the second half by Youssef Msakni’s long-range goal.

Everton winger Alex Iwobi was sent off for a dangerous challenge on goalscorer Msakni only five minutes after coming in as a substitute, exacerbating Nigeria’s troubles (after a VAR review).

It would be the first time the Super Eagles have failed to advance to the AFCON quarterfinals since 1982, whereas Tunisia has done it in four consecutive tournaments.

Wilfred Ndidi’s overhead kick sailed just wide, while Joe Aribo’s effort was deflected for a corner.

The early rush calmed down, and chances were few and far between, with Tunisian players hurling themselves to the ground in search of fouls to prevent the Super Eagles from putting together a move.
