Rangnick said Martial “didn’t want to be in the team” after United chose only eight replacements for Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa, including two goalkeepers.

Martial has not played for United since a 3-2 victory against Arsenal on December 2, but the 26-year-old insisted he was fit for selection.

On Instagram, Martial stated, “I will never refuse to play a match for Man United.”

“I’ve been here for seven years and I’ve never mistreated the club or the supporters, and I never will.”

Andy Cole, a former United striker, stated on Sky Sports News’ Super Sunday Matchday: “As we all know, there are always two sides to every story; one side says one thing and the other says something else. We will, without a doubt, get to the bottom of this sooner rather than later.”

“Manchester United has had a lot of troubles behind the scenes and on the football pitch this season,” Cole continued, “and it isn’t working out well at the moment.”

Martial hopes to go on loan later this month in order to play regular first-team football.

Despite interest from other teams such as Barcelona and Juventus, Sevilla remains his favorite destination since he believes he would play the most there.

However, Sevilla has only pledged to pay half of Martial’s salary thus far.

United is said to be willing to let him go on loan if a club wants to pay them in full plus a loan fee.

Martial hasn’t started a Premier League game since October 2nd, and hasn’t played since the 3-2 win over Arsenal on December 2nd.

In 173 Premier League appearances for United, Martial has 56 goals.

The club’s unwillingness to allow his sale in summer 2018 was one of the catalysts for a deterioration in Jose Mourinho’s relationship with the club, which eventually led to the Portuguese’s departure.

Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s leadership, the forward signed a new deal that runs until 2024.
