Arsenal are reportedly in touch with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is currently battling a heart issue referred to as cardiac lesions. The club reportedly claimed that the heart issue is not as serious as feared.
Recall that when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang arrived with Gabon national team in Cameroon, he and his national teammates, Mario Lemina and Axel Meye tested positive for coronavirus.
The infection got so bad that it resulted in cardiac lesions which forced him to miss his country’s Africa Cup of Nations match against Ghana which ended in a draw. Aubameyang’s heart condition was confirmed after undergoing a scan.
The fact that the football star missed the game, pained him so much that he had to take to his Instagram story to drop a crying emoji encouraging his teammates to “come on”.
His teammates, Axel Meye and Mario Lemina were also diagnosed with the same heart condition and had to also miss the AFCON game against Ghana.
“Medical examinations show cardiac lesions and CAF (Confederation of Africa Football) did not want to take any risks,” the Gabon Football Federation wrote on Twitter.
Currently, Aubameyang has tested negative for the virus and has returned to training since Thursday but his heart issue has been a source of worry to the supporters of the national team of Gabon.
Though he has resumed training, it is not clear that he would play in Gabon’s final group game against Morocco on Tuesday. Gabonese football association has said the association would continue to examine him as the tournament progresses.
According to a report by Sky Sports, Arsenal are satisfied that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s heart condition is not as serious as earlier anticipated.
Arsenal is reportedly aware that the football star is feeling okay and he has been training for the past two days with little or no complications.
But it is left to see whether the 32-year-old striker would have the medical pass to play in his country’s final group match against Morocco on Tuesday. If he can do so, that would be his first appearance in the ongoing tournament.
Both Arsenal doctors and the doctors of Gabonese FA have confirmed that the medical condition of the striker is under control and might not threaten his football career.
Even the coach of Gabon, Patrice Neveu confirmed recently that Aubameyang’s heart condition is a small problem, adding that the striker and his other teammates did not play against Ghana as a precautionary measure.
