Former Liverpool striker, Daniel Sturridge has finally gotten a new club after 9 months without playing professionally for any club.

An Australian professional football club, Perth Glory has offered Daniel Sturridge a season-long contract which will expire on June 30, 2022.

The last time the 32-year-old English striker was contracted to a football club was on March 1, 2020. Recall that Turkish side Trabzonspor released him on March 2, 2020, after spending about a season at the club.

He joined the Turkish side after he ended his stay at Liverpool on August 21, 2019. Daniel Sturridge who was seen as one of the brightest talents in English football struggled to remain fit at Liverpool which halted his reign at the club.

Due to that, he spent the last part of the 2017-2018 season on loan at West Ham United. Yet, he was not able to hit the expected form. Hence, Liverpool decided to allow the former England international to leave.

Before then, Daniel Sturridge played 160 times for Liverpool in which he scored 68 goals and provided 26 assists. He was also part of the Liverpool squad that won the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League title.

Though he enjoyed the highest individual success at Liverpool, Daniel Sturridge enjoyed more team success during his time at Chelsea between 2009 and 2011.

During that period, Sturridge scored 24 goals and provided 9 assists for Chelsea, won a Premier League title, two FA Cups, and one UEFA Champions League title at the London club before he left for Liverpool on January 2, 2013.

While confirming his one-year deal with Perth Glory earlier today, October 1, 2021, Daniel Sturridge took to his Instagram page to share a video showing some of the best goals he has scored in his career.

In the caption, the English striker said it was an amazing opportunity to play in the Australian league.

He wrote: “Perth glory 21/22 season is gonna be a vibe. Amazing opportunity to play in the A-league at this exciting time.

“Looking forward to getting out there and joining up with my new teammates. I’ve heard the city is amazing so can’t wait to explore! See you soon at HBF Park.”

In a statement after signing the one-year deal with Perth glory, Sturridge added: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to try a new challenge.

“When the opportunity came about, it felt like the right thing to do, to take my talent somewhere where I can enjoy my football in a competitive league and try and help the team be as successful as they possibly can be.

“I’m going to put my best foot forward, work hard and try and help the team win each game that comes by and then we’ll see where we end up when the season finishes.

“I can’t wait to play at HBF Park and hopefully put a smile on a lot of faces.”
