Brazilian football icon, Pele has taken to his verified Instagram page to share a throwback picture of himself and Brazilian singer Roberto Carlos Braga to console the singer.

The singer who is referred to as King of Latin Music or simply “The King” lost his 52-year-old son, Dudu Braga on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, after a battle with cancer.

Dudu is the musician’s second family member that had died after a battle with cancer. Recall that the Grammy Award-winning Brazilian singer and composer lost his second wife, Maria Rita to cancer in 1999.

The death of his wife forced Roberto Carlos to take a year break from music, a career he has been involved in since 1951.

Afterward, he returned to the business and continued to release songs and perform every year until date despite turning 80-year-old on April 19, 2021.

Just like how Pele is adored as a football god in Brazil and most parts of the world, Carlos is seen as the biggest source of inspiration to Latin American musicians.

In the Instagram post, Pele shared to console the singer, the 80-year-old football icon and the singer could be seen standing facing each other and resting their right legs on a stool. The two legends posed as if they were playing guitar when the shot was taken.

In the caption, Pele prayed for God to comfort the singer for the loss of his son and wished that the singer would be surrounded by care and light.

Before the Brazilian football icon went on to send well wishes to Roberto Carlos Braga, he used the first few words in the caption of his Instagram post to announce that he was “recovery well”.

Recall that earlier in the week, the football icon announced that he underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his colon.

In an Instagram post he shared on Monday to announce that he was operated upon, he revealed that he decided to embark on the surgery because he had “a suspicious lesion”.

He went on to reveal how he went into the theatre “with a smile” on his face because he believed that he would conquer the challenge.

Two days after the post, the death of Carlos’ son forced him to return to Instagram to confirm that he was recovering well from the aftermath of the surgery.

“I’m recovering well, but today I want to send all my affection, love, and prayers to my great friend Roberto Carlos”, he wrote. “I wish that God would comfort your heart and that you be surrounded by care and light.”

Pele is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time. He is currently the all-time Brazilian highest goalscorer in international football. He helped the country to win three FIFA World Cups – 1958, 1962, and 1970 before he retired from the game in 1977.
