Former Manchester United legend Gary Neville is convinced Liverpool frontman Mohamed Salah is only using the Premier League Heavyweights as a stepping stone.

The Egyptian star has been linked with a move to Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent times. Since joining the club in 2017, the 27-year-old has been one of Klopp’s key players scoring an astonishing 90 goals in 140 games. Neville, however, believes it’s only a matter of time before the forward sorts out for new challenges and likely to do so in Spain.

“It’s never easy to replace a player like that,” Neville said on Monday Night Football. I said 18 months ago I thought Mo Salah would leave Liverpool. I think it’s a little bit more simple in the sense of why Liverpool fans maybe don’t demonstrate that love for Salah, and it’s affinity and loyalty. Salah would be upset I think if a team won 2-0 and he missed two chances and didn’t score” Neville said.

Neville’s analysis comes amid new reports that Real Madrid is ready to seek other options and no longer interested in PSG star Kylian Mbappe. Real are said to be sorting after new hotshot Erling Haaland. The 19-year-old Norwegian star is currently setting the Bundesliga alight with his form and pace for Borussia Dortmund.

Mbappe had been linked with a move to Liverpool for some time. With Real now moving on with their interest in the star, Liverpool will have a better shot in securing his signature now that Real is out of the race. Liverpool FC is currently on top of the Premier League and is 22 points clear of second-place Manchester City.

Meanwhile, after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in their first leg of their Champions League, Jurgen Klopp said there is only one factor that can make Liverpool come out on top. The Reds boss has called on fans of the club to help produce another magical night for the Reds at Anfield. The Reds got off to a shaky start, resulting in Saul Niguez scoring a goal after four minutes at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium. The Premier League leaders look to turn things around in the second leg match that will hold in three weeks.
