England striker Tammy Abraham has officially joined Italian club Roma from Chelsea football club for a transfer fee worth £34 million.

The 23-year-old out of favor England international signed a five-year deal with the Italian Serie A club which means that he could remain at Roma until June 30, 2026.

Recall that since Chelsea’s current coach Thomas Tuchel, arrived at Stamford Bridge, the German tactician has proven that he is not interested in the services of Tammy Abraham who is a product of the club’s academy.

Even though Abraham scored 12 goals to become a joint top scorer at the club last season, his effort did not impress the German tactician.

The most painful part for Tammy Abraham was that due to his lack of regular game time at Chelsea, he could not make it into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020.

It became clearer that he was not wanted at Chelsea when the club decided to spend £97.5 million to bring in another striker, Romelu Lukaku, a once rejected striker at the London based club (2011-2014).

Hence, Tammy Abraham agreed to join Roma, an Italian club that finished 7th last season. The club’s current coach is Jose Mourinho, a former coach of Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.

After sealing the five-year deal with Roma, Tammy Abraham said: “You can sense when a club really wants you – and Roma made their interest clear immediately.

“Roma is a club that deserves to be fighting for titles and trophies. I’ve had the experience of winning major trophies and I want to be in those competitions again – so I want to help this team to achieve that and get to the level where Roma should be.

“It’s a massive honor to be the No. 9 at this club and I just can’t wait to get started and to help the team.”

While Tiago Pinto, Roma’s general manager, said: “Despite still being very young, with a huge amount of potential to keep improving, Tammy has already played more than 200 games in his career and scored over 100 goals – and won several major trophies too.

“Choosing to leave the Premier League, and the club he grew up at, demonstrates very clearly just how much he believes in this opportunity to develop his own game and show what he can do at Roma.

“Bringing in players that have such a hunger and desire to play for our club is hugely important in helping to build the identity and sense of belonging that is a fundamental part of our overall vision for this team.”

Meanwhile, reports in Italy confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo would not leave Juventus this season contrary to speculations linking him with a move away from the club.

The reports claimed that Juventus have no plans to let him go this summer which means that Ronaldo’s purported move to either Paris Saint Germain or Real Madrid is nothing to go by.

Marca, a Spanish publication claimed that Real Madrid have no intention of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club this summer. The publication claimed that Real Madrid have permanently closed their doors against the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The 36-year-old Portuguese football icon who left Real Madrid for Juventus in 2018, still has a season left with Juventus. As at the time of publishing this report, Juventus were yet to start an official discussion on extending Ronaldo’s contract.
