The manager of Chelsea football club, Thomas Tuchel said Romelu Lukaku would bring to Chelsea what the club have been lacking when the Belgian striker finally seals his five-year deal with the club.
He noted that Romelu Lukaku is like Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund, and Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich.
The German tactician went on to describe the striker as a complete number 9 who Chelsea have been looking for especially now that Olivier Giroud had exited the club.
Thomas Tuchel went on to list the characteristics of Romelu Lukaku to include the ability to hold up balls, the ability to create space for other forwards like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Christian Pulisic, and a striker who is ready to fight with defenders.
Futballnews had reported that Chelsea have agreed to pay Inter Milan £97.5 million for the services of the 28-year-old Belgian striker who was once a player at Chelsea between 2011 and 2014.
The latest reports confirmed that Romelu Lukaku has completed his medical in Milan which means that all is set for him to sign his five-year deal with his former club.
Recently, Futballnews reportedly that Lukaku was spotted at the airport and it is believed that he was heading to London to complete his deal with Chelsea.

In anticipation of his arrival at Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel told Sky Sports that: “We lost Olivier Giroud who played a crucial role in the club. He was the kind of profile who likes to play with his back to goal, who likes to hold up balls, who creates space for Werner, Havertz, Pulisic; who is ready to fight physically with defenders.
“This is the kind of profile that we don’t have in our squad right now and that we are looking for. It’s still not the moment to talk about names because we have nobody signed yet and we will show all the respect to other clubs.
“Romelu is one of the guys like Haaland at Dortmund, Lewandowski at Bayern, Harry Kane at Tottenham, who is a real No 9 who loves to score and who has a presence in the box. That is not a secret…
“But [his] is the kind of profile we’re looking for and if it is possible to convince agents and clubs we will do our best.”
Meanwhile, Italian Serie A side, Roma have agreed to pay £34 million for the services of Tammy Abraham who might not have regular playing time when Romelu Lukaku joins Chelsea this summer.
Recall that the 23-year-old English striker has been enduring a lack of regular game time since the mid-2020-2021 season and that is expected to get worse if another striker arrives at Stamford Bridge.
Hence, the way forward for the striker is to leave Chelsea to another club where he would be more appreciated and Roma that are currently being managed by coach Jose Mourinho seem to be the most likely destination.
As it stands, before Chelsea and Roma can go on with the deal, the England international has to agree with the move. Once that is done, Abraham would say his bye to his childhood club.
