Manchester United player Marcus Rarshford will miss a lot of game this season and this what the club has to say about it.

A club statement on Friday read: “Following consultation between Marcus, the manager, club medical staff and a specialists, Marcus will undergo surgery imminently to resolve his shoulder injury.

“He will now focus on his rehabilitation in order to return as soon as possible.”

Marcus represented England at Euro 2020 as Gareth Southgate’s side went all the way to the final before losing in a penalty shoot-out to Italy.

The forward made 64 appearances for club and country in 2020/21 and will be determined to return better than ever to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Reds compete for the top honours at home and abroad.

Speaking last month about the prospect of having an operation, while with the England camp, he said: “Obviously, I am not performing at my best and what I know I can perform to.

“Whatever that is down to, it doesn’t really matter because it has been going on since early on in the season. I managed to get through the season with United.

“I think I had 36 goal involvements so I can’t look back at the year and say ‘I should have taken time off to do this and do that’. That’s just not the way I look at things. I just want to be available for every game.”

Rashford has been dealing with a chronic shoulder pain and it requires a surgical procedure to correct it. As a result, he will be out until October this year before he could start contact training. Also, if the club is doing well without him, fans may not see Rashford until January next year. The winger has been quiet with the procedure and he has been trying to avoid sharing a lot about his health.
