Adrien Rabiot’s mother, Veronique, took matters into her hands after Kylian Mbappe missed the penalty kick that knocked France out of Euro 2020.
Recall that on Tuesday, June 29, France faced less rated Switzerland in the round of 16 stage of Euro 2020. To the dismay of many French supporters, Switzerland came from behind to draw 3-3 before the end of the regular 90 minutes.
The match dragged to extra time and then penalty shootouts. Switzerland scored their five spot-kicks. While France scored their first four before Kylian Mbappe was called upon to take the last kick.
Unfortunately for the 22-year-old Paris Saint Germain forward, he could not score and that ended the journey of France in the tournament they were expected to win.
In reaction to that, Adrien Rabiot’s mother who was watching the game on the stands alongside the mother of Paul Pogba, Fayza Lamari, the father of Mbappe, Wilfried, and other family members of the French team, got into a verbal war with Mbappe’s family.
According to reports in French media, Adrien Rabiot’s mother who is also an agent of the 26-year-old Juventus central midfielder told Mbappe’s father Wilfried to “reframe” the PSG talisman and make him “less arrogant”.
Aside from her attack on Mbappe, it was reported that Adrien Rabiot’s mother engaged in a heated argument with the mother of Paul Pogba, Fayza Lamari earlier in the game.
Veronique ignited the verbal war due to how she bitterly reacted when Switzerland scored the equalizing goal in the 90th minute. In the build-up to the heartbreaking goal, Pogba lost possession in the midfield. Immediately Swiss’ Mario Gavranovic scored the third goal after Pogba’s mistake, she reportedly confronted Pogba’s mother verbally.

The confrontation led to a heated argument between the family of Paul Pogba and Adrien Rabiot’s mother. It got so heated that it took the effort of security operatives to make them calm for the rest of the game.
Also, it was reported that the fight did not end at the stand of the stadium, the French players reportedly engaged in a blame game in the locker room after the game. However, it was not confirmed whether the blame game led to a total fallout among the French players.
Recall that the captain of the French team, Hugo Lloris told the press after the game that all members of the team have taken responsibility for the loss and no one should be singled out for blame.
Also, Mbappe took to Instagram less than 24 hours after the game to apologize for losing the spot-kick that knocked France out of the European Championship.
In reaction to the exit of France from the European Championship, 80-year-old Brazilian football legend, Pele took to Twitter to encourage Mbappe to be strong. He wrote: “Keep your head up, Kylian! Tomorrow is the first day of a new journey, @KMbappe.”
