Just like his father, Mr. Akanji that left Lagos, Nigeria, to Switzerland for greener pastures and then met a Swiss woman to who she got married, Manuel Akanji has been in love with a Swiss lady, Melanie Windler since 2015.

The 25-year-old defender proposed marriage to the Swiss lady in 2018 after a series of ups and downs in their relationship.

In June 2019, Manuel and Melanie Windler became husband and wife. They have been living together in Germany since the Swiss International joined Borussia Dortmund from FC Basel in 2018 for €21.50 million.

After a year of marriage, Melanie Windler became pregnant and gave birth to Malik in May 2020 during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite being a mother of one, she is regarded as one of the hottest ladies in the German Bundesliga due to her natural built and beauty.
