The manager of Chelsea football club, Thomas Tuchel, said the destiny of his long stay at the Premier League club is in his hands. He said his contract with Chelsea could be extended if he continues to “deliver week in, week out”.
The German tactician joined Chelsea after the club sacked Frank Lampard within 18 months of managing the club. Thomas Tuchel was given an 18 months deal at the club with an option for the deal to be extended by a year.
Tuchel who has coached Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint Germain has been performing excellently since he arrived at Chelsea. He has pushed the club from the 9th spot on the league table to the 5th spot.
Besides that, Thomas Tuchel has set a record at Chelsea by being the first coach to led Chelsea to a 14-game unbeaten run. Since January 2021, he has only recorded two defeats in all competitions.
The German tactician has helped Chelsea to qualify for the final of the FA Cup and the semi-final stage of the UEFA Champions League. He is condemned to qualify the club for next season’s Champions League campaign. He has just 7 games to achieve that, and the club is just a point away from the 4th placed West Ham United.
“I demand to deliver, to have an impact and be the best I can”, Thomas Tuchel said ahead of the Chelsea Premier League game against Brighton scheduled to kick-off at 20:00 on Tuesday, April 20.
“If I deserve to stay, I want to stay as long as possible. I feel like part of the family, it is super professional, we have unbelievable support and I want to fight on the touchline with this team.
“I don’t care what the contract says. If I deserve to stay longer, I will stay longer. I feel free and good, I’m at the right place. If I want to stay longer, I need to deliver week in, week out.”

Meanwhile, Manchester City have confirmed that the club’s attacking midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne would not be fit enough for the club’s Premier League game against Aston Villa on Wednesday, April 21.
The Belgian footballer sustained a knee injury on April 17, 2021, during the Semi-final game between City and Chelsea. Due to the injury, coach Pep Guardiola had to substitute him in the 47th minute. Man City lost the game 1-0.
He might also not be available for the club on April 25 when City face Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Carabao Cup. Spurs might also be without the club’s talisman Harry Kane.
