Bayern Munich will play the 2021-2022 season without their current coach Hansi Flick who has confirmed that he would leave the club at the end of this season.

The 54-year-old German tactician who has been the coach of Bayern Munich since 2019 said during a post-match press conference that he has told his team that he would terminate his contract with the club at the end of this season.

Hansi Flick who made this announcement on Saturday after leading Bayern Munich to record a 3-2 victory over Wolfsburg in a German Bundesliga game on Saturday, did not reveal why he had to resign despite still having over two years left on his contract with Bayern.

Before he made this announcement, there has been speculation that he and the management of the club are not having a cordial relationship in the past few weeks. Unfortunately for him, Paris Saint Germain knocked out Bayern in the quarter-final stage of the UEFA Champions League campaign.

Though they are out of the Champions League, they are still performing very strongly in the German Bundesliga. They are currently topping the league table with 68 points in 29 games, 7 points above second-placed RB Leipzig.

Even though Hansi Flick helped Bayern Munich to win one Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and DFL-SuperCup within two years of coaching the club, he has to cut short his contract with Bayern.

He is ending his contract with Bayern amidst speculation that he might be the coach that would replace the outgoing coach of the German national team, Joachim Low. Recall that since Low announced that he would step down as the head coach of the German national team after the forthcoming European championship, Hansi Flick has been the name on everyone’s lips.

“I told the team today that I informed the club during the week after the game in Paris that I would like to get out of my contract at the end of the season”, Hansi Flick said on Saturday, April 17.

“I just wanted to tell the team after the game today because I knew how difficult and important it is that I told the club.

“It was important to me that the team hears it from me because there is already one or two things about the rumor, but we have worked very well together for two years.

“I am absolutely thrilled with this team, with the attitude, with the quality and I am grateful to be able to accompany the team. And also a thank you to the club that there was the opportunity for me to coach such a team…

“The future is not clear at all and there has been no conversation with Oliver Bierhoff because it was an important phase here,” he said.

“Of course, the DFB is an option that every coach has to think about, but for me, it’s important to digest everything first, because the last few weeks weren’t easy for me either.”

As of the time of publishing this report, the current coach of RB Leipzig, Julian Nagelsmann, is said to be the possible replacement of Hansi Flick at Bayern but there is no official statement yet to deny or confirm such speculation.
