The captain of the England national team, Harry Kane will be hoping to end his 6-game scoreless streak when he leads the Three Lions of England to face San Marino later today, March 25.

England will face FIFA’s worst-rated team, San Marino, at the Wembley Stadium in London at 20:45 in the country’s World Cup qualification match. Kane is fit and available to play in the game, but would he score? Only time will tell.

The Tottenham Hotspur and England captain will have no excuse if he fails to score against the lowly rated national team. Harry Kane has not scored for England since November 2019. The last national team he scored against was Kosovo.

Hence, the 27-year-old striker must come with his goalscoring boots against San Marino to draw himself closer to the 53-goal scoring record Wayne Rooney set before he retired from the national team. Kane has already scored 32 goals for England so far in his career and he is expected to increase the tally tonight.

However, the coach of the England national team, Gareth Southgate had said he would manage the game time of Harry Kane which would be in line with the desire of coach Jose Mourinho of Tottenham Hotspur.

Recall that before the international break commenced, Mourinho has urged Kane to reach a compromise with Southgate to play lesser minutes during the matches England has to play this March.

Southgate said on Wednesday that a player like Harry Kane that had been very busy with Tottenham deserved all the necessary rest he could get but doubted whether the player would want to be rested when he is fit to play.

Southgate said: “If I allowed Harry to make that decision, he would play every minute. That won’t be happening.

“But, look, it is brilliant we have a captain who wants to play every minute of every game.

“We have got to be mindful he had extra time last Thursday and another high-intensity game last Sunday, so we have got situations with a lot of the players, really, and we have got to make sure we manage the fixture correctly.

“We have done that through training this week as well and we need to be just as fresh with the games against Albania and Poland as we do tomorrow.

“So, that is not an unusual challenge for us as a coaching team and as a medical team and our physical performance team.

“But we always communicate well with the players and I think we are in a good place going into the game tomorrow.”

So far this season, Harry Kane has scored 17 Premier League goals and provided 13 assists in 27 league matches for Tottenham Hotspur. He has played 40 games in which he scored 27 goals and provided 16 assists this season.
