Angel Di Maria, is one of the lucky few who can say that they have played alongside two of the greatest footballers of our time. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are indeed a force to be reckon with and only a few can say, they have shared a dressing room with both players.

With Di Maria, starring alongside Messi on International duties, and him playing with Ronaldo during his spell at Real Madrid. The attacking midfielder was recently asked to give his opinion on the GOAT (greatest of all time) debate that constantly follows each player.

Reporters were intrigue to hear his take and whether he would go for the athleticism and savagely fierce shots from range of Ronaldo. Or if he preferred the creative slick dribbling and beautiful football of Messi.

Speaking on who’s the best to media reporters, the Argentine said, “It was a dream to have the possibility to play with [Wayne] Rooney, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, Cristiano [Ronaldo], Leo [Messi]… they were players that I used on the PlayStation and I would never have imagined I’d get to play with them.”

“I used to watch them and then to have the opportunity to play with them was really nice.”

“Leo is the best of the four, Cristiano is a monster and Neymar is simply a joy for football. He’s Brazilian and when he plays all he does is have fun.”

Without further hesitation Angel Di Maria names Messi as his GOAT. He also spoke out on some of his best ever teammates saying;

“Ibra is crazy, a total character. On the pitch he might seem like a bad guy but he is awesome, a really good guy. I got along with him very well when he was here. Rooney is a quiet guy. I never thought he would be as strong as he is. With all the great players I have played with, it’s hard to choose. But if I had to pick one, it would be Leo.”

Once again reiterated that Messi is his GOAT. Some may say that there may be some Argentine bias. But at the end of the day, it boils down to personal preference and being that he has shared pitch and training ground with both for years he has a pretty good insight despite statistics and accolades.

Case adjourned!
