The Three Lions of England have revealed 8 players who will not take part in national team duties in November 2024.
8 Players Who Will Miss England’s UEFA Nations League Engagements In November 2024
Chelsea star Cole Palmer will be absent from the Three Lions’ games in November 2024 alongside Bukayo Saka and Trent Alexander-Arnold of Arsenal and Liverpool respectively.
Manchester City duo of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish, alongside Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, have also withdrawn from England’s upcoming matches.
Southampton goalie Aaron Ramsdale and Declan Rice will also not be part of the 2024 UEFA European Championship runner-up squad this month.
Reason Behind Their Absence
Reports claim that the reason behind their withdrawal is due to injury alongside safety precautions, as players don’t want to sustain major injury problems during national team engagements.
Liverpool defender Alexander-Arnold was forced off injured after 25 minutes in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Aston Villa.
Arsenal winger Saka also limped off the pitch in the dying embers of Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday, November 10, 2024, while Rice also picked up a knock in the same match and was taken off in the 71st minute.
Grealish has not played for Manchester City since October 20, 2024, but was still included in the England squad by Carsley, a decision Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola criticized.
Moreover, Ramsdale is apparently set for a spell on the sidelines due to a suspected fractured finger sustained in Southampton’s 2-0 loss to Wolves on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Replacements For The Unavailable England Players
Aston Villa man Morgan Rogers has been called up as a replacement for players who have withdrawn for the upcoming games alongside Jarrod Bowen and Tino Livramento, who ply their trade with West Ham United and Newcastle United respectively.
Moreover, Burnley shot-stopper James Trafford has also been invited alongside Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, who was linked massively to Manchester United in the summer of 2024.
England’s Matches In November 2024
England trade tackles with Greece on November 14, 2024, in their penultimate affair for the year, before welcoming Ireland to Wembley Stadium in their final game for 2024.
Both matches are UEFA Nations League engagements and caretaker boss Lee Carsley will oversee them.
The Three Lions currently sit 2nd in Group 2 of League B, having amassed 9 points from 4 matches, winning 3 games and losing 1.
Lee Carsley Departs, Thomas Tuchel Arrives
Carsley would be looking to bow out on a high by claiming victories against Greece, who submerged England at Wembley in October 2024, and by beating neighbors Ireland.
Thomas Tuchel, who was appointed as head coach of the Three Lions on October 16, 2024, will commence his job as boss of England on January 1, 2025.
The German tactician will take charge of qualification matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, due to be staged in Canada, Mexico, and the USA.
Tuchel’s appointment meant interim handler Carsley will return to handle the U21 after the games against Greece and Ireland, having been given the opportunity to lead the senior men’s national team of England in an interim capacity since August 2024.
