Ruud van Nistelrooy’s tenure as Manchester United’s interim boss is nearing its end, but the Dutchman remains uncertain about his long-term future at the club.

With new manager Ruben Amorim set to take the reins on Monday, November 11, Van Nistelrooy is still awaiting word on whether he will be retained as part of the coaching staff.

The former United legend Van Nistelrooy, appointed as Erik ten Hag’s assistant manager in the summer, stepped up to guide United through their post-Ten Hag fixtures.

Despite his valiant efforts, securing a 2-0 win over PAOK, a 5-2 thrashing of Leicester in the Cup, and a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League, his future at Old Trafford remains shrouded in uncertainty.

Manchester United Players Rally Behind Ruud Van Nistelrooy

SunSport exclusively revealed that Manchester United’s first-team players are eager for Van Nistelrooy to stay, with an insider disclosing that players have “made their feelings clear internally.”

Manchester United and Cameroonian goal keeper Andre Onana has urged incoming Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim to keep “very good coach” Ruud van Nistelrooy in his backroom team.

The former Ajax goalkeeper expressed his full support for interim head coach Erik ten Hag, praising him for his coaching abilities and experience.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Onana highlighted ten Hag’s positive impact on the team and emphasized the players’ satisfaction with his performance.

He said: “100 per cent. He’s a very good guy, a very good coach. Since he’s here, he’s helping us a lot. He has so much experience and he advises us a lot. He’s doing amazing since he’s here, you know.”

“Obviously, we have him a few days as a head coach. He’s different, but he’s doing amazing. It’s fantastic what he’s doing and the players are happy.”

Despite acknowledging that the club ultimately decides the head coach’s fate, Onana emphasized the importance of discussions between ten Hag and the club to determine the best course of action for Ajax.

Onana added: “But at the end of the day, it’s not something we can decide. The club made the decision and we have to accept it.”

“But this has to be between him and the club because at the end of the day, they are the ones who have to sit at the table and decide what is best for the club.”

Meanwhile, Van Nistelrooy himself has expressed his desire to remain at the club, honoring his assistant contract until the end of next season.

Meanwhile, last month, he emphasized his commitment to the club, stating, “I decided to come back here for a very important reason. I came as an assistant to help the club move forward.”

His Final Game in Charge

Van Nistelrooy will lead Manchester United for the final time as interim boss in their clash with Leicester this weekend.

As the clock ticks down to Amorim’s arrival, Van Nistelrooy’s fate hangs precariously in the balance. Whether Manchester United’s hierarchy will opt to retain the legendary Dutch striker, or put his Old Trafford journey come to a close remains uncertain.

What’s next for Ruud van Nistelrooy?

Van Nistelrooy will lead Manchester United when Leicester visit Old Trafford on Sunday, with Amorim set to officially take charge on November 11.
