    The contract of Marcelo at boyhood club Fluminense has been mutually terminated following an issue between the Real Madrid legend and manager Mano Menezes.

    Brazilian tactician Menezes was ready to sub on Marcelo but then sent him back to the bench due to his attitude.

    Reports indicate that Marcelo informed Mano not to speak to him anymore and not to touch him, as he was providing him with instructions before he would be introduced into the game between Fluminense and Gremio on Saturday, November 2, 2024, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

    Fluminense manager Mano Menezes subsequently pushed him back and opted not to sub him on anymore, with Marcelo afterward walking back to the bench.

    Marcelo’s contract with Fluminesse was terminated after he disrespected his manager and colleagues. 

    Reports indicate that he’s the most disliked player in the squad due to his ego and too-knowing attitude.

    Fluminense’s Statement Confirming The Termination Of Marcelo’s Contract At The Club

    Confirming the termination of Marcelo’s contract, Fluminense shared a statement on their social media accounts which read: 

    “Fluminense FC and Marcelo Vieira announce the termination of their contract by mutual agreement between the parties.”

    They pointed out that despite the issue, the relationship between Fluminense and Marcelo will not be discontinued.

    Fluminense added: “The institutional and emotional ties between Fluminense and Marcelo continue to be maintained. The athlete’s name was recently immortalized in the Xerém training center stadium.

    The Brazilian side also appreciated the 36-year-old for his contributions to the club and wished him all the best in his future endeavors.

    They wrote: “Fluminense thanks Marcelo and will continue, as always, to support his success in all his challenges.”

    Due to his contract termination, Marcelo has become a free agent and he is free to join any club upon successful negotiations.
