Carlo Ancelotti is unperturbed by the humiliating defeat heaped on Real Madrid by Barcelona on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

The Italian tactician has tagged the embarrassing loss as a good omen, pointing out that the last time they lost 4-0 to Barcelona, Los Blancos went on to claim the UCL and La Liga title.

Carlo Ancelotti Confident Real Madrid Will Turn The Corner As The Season Wears On

Speaking following Real Madrid’s home defeat to the Blaugrana side on Sunday, October 27, 2024, Ancelotti said: “Last time we lost 0-4 to Barca, we won La Liga and the UCL.”

Los Merengues last suffered a defeat to Barcelona by that margin (4-0) in March 2022, but they managed to weather the storm and claim the UEFA Champions League and La Liga title at the end of the 2021/22 season.

However, Carlo Ancelotti admitted that his side lacked precision in front of goal, saying: “We played a first half with intensity. We could have scored [but] we lacked some accuracy.

“When they score they hit two goals that took all of our energy away. We took more risks at the back and they found a lot more chances on the counter-attack.

“For 60 minutes, we competed very well, and we have to forget the last 30.”

Despite the humbling defeat, Ancelotti does not think the result should make Real Madrid feel that the season is over.

He added: “The season is very long, we must not give up but learn. We did it last time and now we will do the same to try to come back and compete.”

Carlo Ancelotti Speaks On His Game Plan After Receiving Massive Criticisms

Several football enthusiasts, including Real Madrid fans, also criticized the tactical approach of Carlo Ancelotti, expressing that the Italian was schooled in the second period by Hansi Flick.

The 65-year-old responded to those comments in his post-match presser, sharing that he does not regret his game plan.

Ancelotti shared: “I do not regret my game plan. I have been in football for 48 years, so I’m not wrong when I tell you that the first half was good.

“It’s different from the loss versus Lille. We were very bad that day. Today we competed.”
