Dominic Calvert-Lewin heads in for England against Wales

The Everton poacher couldn’t hide his excitement over the success in the game the Three Lions eventually won 3-0 against Wales Wembley.

Calvert-Lewin had announced himself in the Premier League this season with two hat-tricks so far this season. The strike for the Three Lions makes it his tenth of the season.

He also put himself in the record book to become the 188th player to score on his England debut and the first Everton player to do so since Fred Pickering in 1964

Reacting to the team’s success, Calvert-Lewin took to his social media page to share his old picture from the England youth teams to the national team, with a caption: ” The moment you dream about as a kid”.

England in cruise control with new faces

Aston Villa captain, Jack Grealish continued his good form for England earning the man of the match award despite being substituted just before the hour.

Apart from being the creator of the first goal, Grealish was at the heart of England’s best work. The playmaker drew the foul that led to England’s second goal eight minutes after the break.

Kieran Trippier then delivered a perfect free-kick that was turned in by an ecstatic Conor Coady for his first international goal.

England finally ended Wale eight-match unbeaten run as Danny Ings, scored the third on his first start. The in-form Southampton striker showed superb athleticism to add a third in the 63rd minute with a perfectly-executed overhead kick from Tyrone Mings’ header.

Calvert-Lewin busting with confidence

Having scored nine goals from five, Calvert-Lewin, who is also the Premier League’s striker in form was an expected inclusion in the starting line up. The striker is bursting with confidence and he showed it in his debut by converting the first chance he got.

The 23-year-old has shown rapid maturity and he is now showing the potential of a complete striker.

Although his attitude and workrate are unquestionable, his goals output was. There now seem to be Carlo Ancelotti’s effect in him as he is now the Premier League top scorer, who cannot stop scoring.

Here, he was the beneficiary of brilliant work by Grealish, whose cross from the right was the sort any striker dreams of, Calvert-Lewin soaring to power in the header.

Stats
