Erling Haaland has won Manchester City Player of the Month following his heroics for the club on the domestic scene.

He continued his prolific start to the campaign in September, helping City to a dramatic comeback win over Brentford on September 14, 2024 in the opening match of the month.

The Norwegian’s double saw the Premier League champions come from behind to defeat Brentford to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.

In his second match in the month for City, he found the back of the net again, opening the scoring as City drew 2-2 in a pulsating clash with Arsenal on September 22, 2024.

He blanked in his last game for the month against Newcastle United as the team settled for a 1-1 draw. However, his brilliance in the month was enough to see him clinch the award.

It is the second time Haaland has bagged an individual award this season. He won the Premier League Player of the Month award in August after scoring 10 goals in his first five matches for Manchester City.

The terrific stretch also saw him equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of reaching 100 goals in his first 105 matches.

He is currently leading the Premier League top scorers chart for this season, having netted 10 goals in 8 Premier League matches for Manchester City.

Erling Haaland references Sergio Aguero as the best Manchester City player.

Erling Haaland is en route to making more history and breaking records with Manchester City and will be hoping to take after the club’s legends like Sergio Aguero.

The Norwegian referenced the former Manchester City star when asked about the best striker that has ever played for Manchester City.

“Sergio Kun Aguero is the best striker to ever play for City,” he answered.

Aguero etched his name into Manchester City history books following his heroics for the club. From the moment-defining Premier League winning goal against QPR in 2010 to other standout performances, the Argentine cemented his place in City’s famed hall of legends.

After a decade, Aguero left City as the club’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals. Away from Man City, Aguero opted to continue his career at Barcelona but was forced to call time on his career due to his heart condition.

Meanwhile, he set goalscoring benchmark at City, challenging subsequent forwards like Erling Haaland who will look to match and possibly break the goal record.

Notably, Aguero reached his record 260-goal tally with Manchester City in 10 seasons but Haaland is gradually closing up in just three seasons with the club. The Norwegian has scored 102 goals and is likely to match or overtake Aguero should he continue with City in the next two to three seasons.

Haaland will be expected to play a key role as Manchester City attempt to challenge for the Premier League title again. In the past two seasons, he has emerged as the club’s key man, scoring week-in and week-out to lead their charge for the Premier League title race in the last two seasons.

He won the Premier League Golden Boot back-to-back and is en route to becoming the first Premier League player to win it for three consecutive seasons.
