AS Roma have dismissed Italian tactician Daniele De Rossi following a run of poor results, which has seen the Giallorossi occupy the 16th spot on the Serie A table.
The Stadio Olimpico side fired the club legend just 4 matches into the new Serie A season, as a turnaround didn’t appear to be in sight under De Rossi’s stewardship, with the team 1 point adrift the relegation zone.
When Was De Rossi Hired By Roma?
Roma hired Daniele De Rossi to replace Jose Mourinho in January 2024, and his first few games handling the side made fans optimistic about the days ahead.
However, after not securing a win in any of their league matches this campaign, drawing three, and losing at home to Empoli in August 2024, AS Roma have decided to discontinue their relationship with the 41-year-old.
The Giallorossi are currently 16th in the Serie A standings as aforementioned, and De Rossi last handled the side on Sunday, September 15, 2024, when they played out a 1-1 draw at Genoa.
AS Roma Dismiss Daniele De Rossi Having Failed To Win Any Game This Season
Roma confirmed the dismissal of Daniele De Rossi via a statement shared by the club on their website which read:
“AS Roma announces that Daniele De Rossi has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team.
“The club’s decision is made in the best interests of the team, to get back on the desired path as soon as possible at a time when the season is still in its early stages.
“A heartfelt thank you to Daniele, who will always be at home at the Giallorossi club, for the work he has done in recent months with passion and dedication.”
Daniele De Rossi’s stint as boss of Roma started on a brilliant note, as he lost only once in 11 league matches, helping the Giallorossi amass 26 points from a possible 33 and propelling the club from ninth to sixth in the table.
Impressively, they also reached the semi-finals of the Europa League, before being eliminated by Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Finishing 6th on the log last term aided the club in qualifying for this season’s UEFA Europa League.
