The football world witnessed two of the fastest goals in football history on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Jamal Musiala poked Bayern Munich ahead in their game against Holstein Kiel, with the attacker scoring with just 14 seconds of action played.

    Jamal Musiala – Bayern Munich/Germany

Musiala helped the Bavarian giants secure a smashing 6-1 win over the newly promoted side, with Harry Kane netting a hat-trick and Michael Olise scoring his first goal for the Munich-based club in the 65th minute.

Midfielder Nicolai Remberg also put the ball into his own net, while Armin Gigovic got the consolation goal for Holstein Kiel in the 82nd minute.

Jamal Musiala’s goal barely 14 seconds into the game etched his name into history, as it is the third-fastest goal scored by any player in the German Bundesliga.

The record for the fastest goals in the history of the German Bundesliga is jointly held by Karim Bellarabi and Kevin Volland, who each scored within nine seconds during the opening matchday of the 2014/15 campaign and the second of the 2015/16 term respectively.

Musiala, who is regarded as one of the best young footballers in the world, would be hoping to accentuate his brilliance for Bayern Munich in the 2024/25 season, as they hunt for success this term.

Having scored one of the fastest goals in football history, Jamal Musiala would be looking at breaking more records.

    Yoane Wissa – Brentford/DR Congo

Wissa netted the second-fastest goal on the day, having raced Brentford into an early lead against Manchester City after 22 seconds of action played.

The Congolese forward wasted no time in showcasing his goal-scoring prowess as he took advantage of a capitulation in defense by the Cityzens.

Unfortunately, Yoane Wissa was withdrawn in the first half of Brentford’s battle with Manchester City after the attacker sustained an injury.

Before he was taken off, Erling Haaland had already helped Pep Guardiola’s side turn the tide and the Cityzens ultimately ran out 2-1 winners at the Etihad.

Wissa’s goal is the fastest in the Premier League this season alongside the quickest goal that Brentford have also scored in the division.

Despite how quick his goal came, it doesn’t make it into the top 25 fastest goals in the history of the English Premier League.

Wissa’s effort is only the 27th fastest goal overall in the history of the English Premier League.

Meanwhile, Yoane Wissa’s goal after 22 seconds is the fastest ever scored in the Premier League against the reigning champions.

Fastest Goals In The Premier League

The honor of scoring the fastest goal in the Premier League belongs to Shane Long, who scored only 7.69 seconds after kick-off on April 23, 2019, for Southampton against Watford.

Additionally, the second-quickest goal came in the 2022/23 season when Philip Billing netted for AFC Bournemouth against Arsenal after only 9.11 seconds.

It ascended into the No. 2 spot above the goal that defender Ledley King scored for Tottenham Hotspur against Bradford City in the 2000/01 season, with the effort coming after 9.82 seconds.

It will be fascinating to see the players that would etch their names into the history books with such records in the foreseeable future.
