Manchester City will be appearing in court on October 2024 after Benjamin Mendy sued the club for unpaid wages under the Employment Tribunal.
The former Manchester City defender launched a case against his former employer on November 21, 2023, after the Premier League reigning Champions stopped paying his £100,000 weekly wages while battling rape and assault scandal.
The hearing will take place in the Manchester court for two days which is expected to start on October 14, 2024.
Mendy was aggressively accused of raping a 24-year-old woman in his home in Cheshire, England, in October 2020.
In addition, he was accused of attempting to rape another woman in 2018 whose name was withheld by the court.
This prompted Manchester City to terminate his contract, and they stopped paying his wages before he cleared of the allegations and joined FC Lorient.
Mendy claimed an unauthorized deduction from his wages while the rape accusations trial was going on in the court.
The FC Lorient defender became the most expensive defender in 2017 when Manchester City paid a whopping amount of £52 million to Monaco for his signature.
His contract with Pep Guardiola’s side ended on June 30, 2023. Benjamin Mendy is currently finding it difficult to get into the FC Lorient after the manager of the club, Olivier Pantaloni, said he is not the player he particularly wants.
