Raphael Varane Removed From Como Squad For Serie A Season

Former Manchester United star Raphael Varane has been excluded from Como’s 25-man squad for the 2024/25 Serie A season.

The 31-year-old, who has won the Champions League four times, signed with Como on a free transfer in July following his departure from Old Trafford.

The French man agreed to a two-year contract with the possibility of extending it.

However, despite being a highly decorated player who is expected to bring valuable experience to his team, Varane has been excluded from Como’s squad for this season.

The 31-year-old sustained a flexor muscle injury during Coppa Italia match against Salernitana on August 11 that could keep him on the sidelines for an extended period according to Romano.

Romano wrote: “Raphael Varane, currently removed by Como squad for Serie A season due to injury.”

Additionally, Sportmediaset has hinted that Cesc Fabregas’ Como are contemplating ending the defender’s contract shortly after he joined the team.

The injury sustained by the 31-year-old in the first league game is turning out to be more complex than initially thought.

As such, the Frenchman is not expected to be available until the next Year.
