Victor Osimhen now has his future hang up in the air as Al-Ahli battle with Chelsea for the Napoli striker’s signature.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles forward extended his contract with the Italian Giant, with a release clause of £110million included in the agreement.

Despite interest from several top clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, PSG, and clubs from Saudi Arabia, the high release clause has deterred many potential suitors.

However, Premier League club, Chelsea and Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli are now the main contenders for his signature.

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to offer Napoli £60 million and a salary higher than what he currently earns, which is around £325,000 per week compared to his current £253,005 weekly salary at Napoli.

The Blues are set to reach an agreement with Victor Osimhen over contract terms as they have reportedly submitted an official bid.

However, Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli have stepped up their interest in the Napoli man, offering him a lucrative package that currently eclipses what Chelsea have put on the table.

Al Ahli have made a formal bid of £62 million to Napoli, and they are willing to pay the 25-year-old striker a salary of £500,000 per week according to reports.

In addition, the Saudi Pro League club are very hopeful of securing a deal for Osimhen this summer as Al-Ahli officials are believed to be travelling to Italy to finalise their offer for the 25-year-old.

Meanwhile, it’s reported that Osimhen will only head to Saudi Arabia if he cannot agree personal terms with the Premier League club, but there is no guarantee that he will give the final green light.

Negotiations between Chelsea and the Italian giants are expected to resume within the next 48 hours as they explore the possibility of a permanent deal.

Sources indicate that a resolution may be reached if Chelsea increases their bid beyond the initial £60 million proposal.

Although Chelsea’s attempts to negotiate a lower price for Osimhen have been unsuccessful thus far, they still have the opportunity to come back with a more competitive offer that could pave the way for discussions with the player on personal terms.

In the meantime, Chelsea are said to be exploring other options besides Osimhen to address their striker position before the transfer window closes.

One potential target is Ivan Toney from Brentford, whose future could be affected if Osimhen signs with Al-Ahli.

Why is Osimhen in high demand by top clubs?

Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen has become a highly sought-after player in the transfer market, and for a good reason.

His exceptional goal-scoring record and experience in one of Europe’s top leagues have made Osimhen a prime target for clubs looking to bolster their attacking options.

The Nigerian forward has consistently impressed in Serie A, leading Napoli to the title in the 2022/23 season with 26 league goals in just 32 appearances.

Osimhen’s impressive form continued as he scored 15 goals in 25 games last term.

With over 100 appearances in Serie A under his belt, he has amassed an impressive 65 goals and 15 assists, making him a hot commodity among top clubs.

Al-Ahli stepped up their attempts to land Napoli hitman but Chelsea are in the driving seat in transfer pursuit. As it stands, where Victor Osimhen will end up remains uncertain. What’s your opinion on this? Please, share your thoughts with us in the comments box.
