Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca admitted he was not happy about the first-half performance of Mykhailo Mudryk against Wolves in the Premier League.
The winger was substituted after the horrible first half performance, while the score line was 2-2. The manager, Maresca, optioned for Pedro Neto, who helped Chelsea defeat Wolves in a fashionable manner.
After the Chelsea match against Wolves, the Chelsea manager was asked why Mudryk was dropped to the bench in the second half. He said, “Because I was not happy.”
Furthermore, Maresca said, “In some moments, we can manage some situations better. He was working very hard off the ball, and that was very good. But in terms of the ball, I expect a bit more quality from Misha.”
“For me, he had some good moments the other day and some good moments today, and the reason why was just because we needed to change and give Pedro some minutes.”
Chelsea signed the Arsenal target in January 2023 for a transfer fee worth £89 million. Maresca is the latest manager who is tasked with the effort to bring the Ukrainian back to his best after he failed under four different managers.
To avoid putting his Chelsea career in jeopardy, Mudryk should improve his technical ability and do everything necessary to be a world-class player again. There are still a lot of matches where he can prove to the world he is technically intelligent.
He may be on the bench against Switzerland team Servette in the second leg of the European Conference League play-off.
Can Mykhailo Mudryk Survive the New Chelsea Era Under Enzo Maresca?
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been making hard decisions about selecting players who can make significant efforts to make the club succeed at both the international and domestic levels.
Mudryk has failed to contribute immensely to the success of Chelsea since he completed a move from Shakhtar Donetsk two seasons ago.
The Ukrainian is currently playing under the fifth Chelsea manager in two seasons. Also, the winger had only scored seven goals in 60 appearances for the club.
If the player doesn’t improve his precision, his final attempt on the ball, his one-on-one action with defenders, and his desire to always win the ball, he is likely to be demoted to the U21 Chelsea squad.
Maresca had vividly said players won’t get a free pass into the team, and the only way they are allowed to get into the starting XI is when they train hard.
Also, Chelsea are signing more attacking players, and they are rumoured to be interested in bringing Victor Osimhen and Manchester United Jadon Sancho on the final transfer day.
If it happens, it will reduce Mudryk’s chances of playing a Premier League match for Chelsea in the 2024-25 season.
Mudryk should focus on winning silverware and effectively work his way back to the top. He still believes he can regain his previous form at Chelsea Football Club.
