Lee Carsley Appointed Interim Manager Of England

Lee Carsley has been temporarily promoted to the hot seat, having also handled the English Under-21 side.

The 50-year-old is replacing Southgate, who resigned from his role as England manager on July 16, 2024, two days after the Euro 2024 final on July 14, 2024.

Gareth Southgate had an impressive spell as England’s boss, guiding the nation to the semi-final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup alongside 2 final appearances at the UEFA European Championship.

Unfortunately, Southgate couldn’t lead the Three Lions to glory, and he thought it wise  to excuse himself from the managerial position, having handled the side between 2016 and 2024.

Meanwhile, Carsley has also spoken after being named as the interim manager and he pointed out his familiarity with players of England alongside the “cycle of international football.”

He said: “As I am very familiar with the players and the cycle of international football, it makes sense for me to guide the team while the FA continues the process of recruiting a new manager.”

Lee Carsley also shared his “main priority and goal” in the coming months, stressing the need for England “to secure promotion in the Uefa Nations League.”

He led them to the European Championship title in 2023, with the young Three Lions winning the competition for the first time in 39 years.
