Sheffield United have completed the signing of defender Alfie Gilchrist from Chelsea on loan.

Confirming the acquisition of Gilchrist, Sheffield United put out a statement on their website which read:
“United’s defensive options have been strengthened ahead of Friday’s season opener at Preston Noth End, with the loan addition of Chelsea’s versatile Alfie Gilchrist.”
Alfie Gilchrist becomes the 7th addition to Sheffield United this summer, having already secured the services of Harrison Burrows, Kieffer Moore, Callum O’Hare, Jamie Shackleton, Sam McCallum, and Harry Souttar on loan.
Gilchrist made his debut for Chelsea on December 27, 2023, in a Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace.
The 20-year-old went on to make 17 appearances across all competitions, scoring 1 goal and providing no assists.
Alfie Gilchrist was also linked with Championship side Preston North End this summer before he was snapped up by Sheffield United.
Meanwhile, Gilchrist could feature for the Blades in their Championship season-opener against Preston North End on Friday, August 9, 2024.
They were relegated to the second-tier league of English football following their disastrous outing in the Premier League last season.
Sheffield United will certainly be hoping to secure promotion back to the top flight at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
