Crystal Palace‘s winger Andros Townsend has decided to combine two Brain-tasking jobs and his football manager Roy Hodgson is not too pleased with such an “extra burden” the player has decided to place on himself.

Andros Townsend is just 29-year-old and his football career is still looking very promising especially under the current coach of Crystal Palace Hodgson. He got the opportunity to show that he is multi-talented when he had to replace former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff on a regular breakfast show on talkSPORT.

The English footballer who has once played for Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur has been analyzing sports on the breakfast show since June and hardly misses an episode of the show.

Still, the coach has not made an issue out of it as he has continued to enjoy regular playing time especially since the commencement of this season. And for a fact, his time on the show has not affected his football career negatively as he has continued to be one of the most important players at Crystal Palace.

For instance, Andros Townsend played in the two Premier League matches the club has played so far this season. In the two matches, the English winger has scored a goal and has provided an assist which is a perfect start of a new season for a player of his caliber.

However, last season was not a very glorious one for Townsend. He struggled for consistency and couldn’t make much impact in Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace squad. Throughout the prolonged season, the Premier League star played only 25 matches in all competitions and only manage to score a goal and provided just an assist. But such a bad form could not be linked to his regular appearance on a breakfast show because he started it in June, less than a month before the end of the 2019-2020 Premier League season.

Though most people felt Townsend took the job in preparation for retirement but his coach believes that it was too early for the player to take such a direction.

“It’s something he wants to do”, Roy Hodgson said. “He’s certainly intelligent enough and sensible enough to manage it, (but) I wouldn’t have encouraged him to take it on.

“It doesn’t cause any problems whatsoever but it’s an extra burden of work for him.

“In terms of his football career, that continues to go forward. He’s probably in a good stage at the moment in certain aspects of his game, which he works hard on, and I see them improving.”

Andros Townsend is expected to be in action later today, September 26, when Crystal Palace play their third Premier League match against Everton. The club is looking forward to winning the third match in a row after defeating Southampton and Manchester United in the club’s last two games.
