Girona have completed the signing of Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek from Manchester United in an initial deal of €500k with add-ons of €4/5m.
The total transfer package is worth €10/15m as announced by Fabrizio Romano. The 27-year-old is ready for a new chapter as he enters La Liga from the Premier League. He will now hope for a fresh start in Spain following a torrid time at Manchester United.
Van de Beek struggled for game time at United since Erik ten Hag took over the reins as United manager. He made only 7 Premier League appearances for the club in ten Hag’s first season and one last season before being loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.
At the Bundesliga outfit, Van de Beek continued to struggle, making only 8 Bundesliga appearances for the club. He will hope to weather the struggles and breath life back into his career with Girona.
Confirming his exit from the club, he bid United fans farewell, appreciating the support throughout his spell with the club.
“Dear Manchester United family:.”. Today is an unforgettable day for me, as my journey at the club comes to an end. I want to thank you all for your support throughout the years.”
